I set up Katy Loftus Editorial after 15 years working for the major UK publishers, most recently for Viking at Penguin Random House, where I curated a list of bestselling and award-winning books. In 2021, my last year in-house, I won Editor of the Year at the British Book Awards. In my time in London I also co-founded the Penguin WriteNow scheme and the Feminist Book Society literary salon in collaboration with Waterstones.
Working from my studio in a village near Bristol, I now help writers at every stage of the process and of their career. I believe in honesty and kindness as the keystones to successful, enjoyable collaboration.
You can read about why I left corporate publishing in The Bookseller and my advice for authors and writing on mental health on my Substack, Katy Loftus on the Margins.
